The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes from the Lily Cole Cruelty-free collection: Think Pink Palette 24

The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes from the Lily Cole Cruelty-free collection: Think Pink Palette 24 review, photo and swatches
To begin with, I have never been a big fan of nude eyes on myself. The chief reason being my pigmented lids and dark circles. But ever since I found my fr-enemy Inglot Eyeshadow base, I am venturing more into it. Recently these shimmer cubes were something I had been obsessed with. And there is indeed a reason .

These are 'shimmer cubes' so please don't say ' I liked them, but they are shimmery!!'. indeed these are shimmery. But the shimmers are not chunky and are finely milled enough to give a pearly-shimmery effect rather than a glittery one. At first, I was pretty bummed out about how I could put them to use. When I turned it over, the price almost gave me a hearth attack. Eventually, this is what I started to think of it

The good:
  • The case is compact, but don't judge it by the size. Each cube contains pressed shimmery product which indeed looks porous like a brick. But the quantity is really too much and I would perhaps need a lifetime to finish it up even if I use it regularly. With more than 20 applications, I have not been able to make a dent and the product looks new as ever. So, price is not a problem for me.
  • The little bricks come in separate containers each with a lid which makes these very portable. The added advantage: if you have more than one of these palettes, you can interchange the cubes and carry around your favorites. If you don't want all the shades, just take out one and slip into your makeup kitty that you carry around.
  • The factor that took me by surprise was a duochrome effect. Remember my no-makeup makeup look? One of our friends actually asked what I was wearing on the crease? Nothing! I hadjust packed and blended the light brown shade on the entire lid and yes, it lasted all day.
  • The brown shade has a beautiful pinkish undertone which goes very well with my skintone. It does not make my eyelids look stark, yet imparts a beautifully done no-makeup makeup/ nude and fresh look
  • Except for the mauve, I personally love all the shades and yes, I do wear them.
  • It stays put for a long time. I had tried it under a shower and does not wash off ( I know I am a bit crazy). But you can wash these off with plain face washes.

The bad:
Yes, I have bad things to say about these :(
  1. The price. 4 shades for 1495 INR is a bit too steep. My suggestion would be reduce the quantity and reduce the price or reduce the quantity and add more shades. What do you think?
  2. The mauve shade could be a bit more deeper. On Indian skintone like mine, it is a bit too light.

The swatches are in single swipe
The brown: It has slight pinkish/salmonish undertone.
The Mauve: A very light shimmery shade.
A creamy beige color. beautiful for highlighting my browbone and cupid's bow.
A Plum that looks Deep brown in the image.

    1. yes. First I wondered why would anyone actually want to spend so much on these. But later, I am kind of happy. Still shelling out so much at a time is really difficult for me

    1. I think there should be no problem. But if you feel uncomfortable, it also has a lotion variant which you can easily try. Even though it's not a drug, it addresses most skin woes.
