The Body Shop Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil (The Nourishment for All Hair Types)

I had been testing The Body ShopRainforest Coconut Hair Oil which is supposed to be The Nourishment for All Hair Types. It has been quite a few weeks that I had been trying this one and in various ways.

Ok, let me first tel you how I had tried:
  • Leave in: After washing my hair, I would take literally two or three drops of it and rub it on my hands and put it along the length and massage it into the roots:
Effect: Frizz free hair. My hair, which had been looking noticeably dry which made me get a trim even, looked quite better. The dryness is gone, yes, you heard it right 'Gone'. And my hair looks shiny.

Downside of this:
If you have very fine hair like mine, if you go even a bit overboard, it would weigh your hair down. You might need to wash your hair every alternate day.

  • Pre wash oil:  It works wonders! It softens the hair and the best part is that you need a very little amount ( say a small coin size) for the length just  past the shoulders.
Effect: Hair is soft and shiny and frizz -free!!!

Downside: None. Only that I do not want to waste the oil as a pre-wash conditioner.

Why you should buy this? And My thoughts: OK, let me be honest. At first I thought what's the deal with coconut oil? I can get pure coconut oil right in the local market and even better at my maternal uncle's where they do produce their own. But on checking, I found it contains pracaxi oil as well. Now, I did not know what pracaxi oil is. but when I googled it, I found it's the ultimate skin elixir you may call. It's a heavy naturally conditioning and moisturizing oil which has numerous uses, from making hair conditioners to acne treatment. In fact, when you rub the The Body Shop Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil in your palm, and once you are done putting it in your hair, you would feel your hair soft and shiny!

It has a kind of bittersweet scent to it which is not pleasant at first, but it kind of grows on you. With time, I seem to have become fond of the scent .

Since I have acne prone skin, I avoid oiling my hair ( as directed by my dermatologist). But even though I had been mostly using it as a leave in, it never gave me any acne at all!! In fact, I see some improvement with my itchy scalp.

What this oil I think can do for different hair types?
Curly Hair girls would, I think benefit the maximum. This would definitely soften and define your curls.

Wavy Hair and fine ( My type): It would help you control the frizz. I use my Body Shop Cotton Seed curl Booster leave-in conditioner along with this The Body Shop Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil as a leave in. My hair has become so frizz-free and the waves so clean, I sister asked me if I had done something to my hair!

Shall I recommend? Yes I would. You should check this out for once. For 645 INR 250 ml of oil might seem expensive. But in the long run, you won't feel the pinch.

Shall I repurchase? At first I was dubious. But now I know the Cotton Seed Curl Booster leave in and this oil makes a good combo for my hair and I would like to continue with it ,

    1. You can try this as a pre wash. But I would say first identify your problem, like is it only dryness? Is it the dandruff, etc

  9. I have never understood much about hair-oils, and they all seem similar to me. And that made me nervous because I really want to take care of it. I think I'll give it a try the next time. Good review :)
