The Body Shop Oil-free Balancing Foundation 04 with SPF 15: Worth or not?

The Body Shop Oil-free Balancing Foundation SPF 15 shade 04 review, Photo, price, swatches
I had picked up The Body Shop Oil free balancing Foundation 04 quite a long time ago. I had heard much about this foundation, so, when I found it at 50% discount, I did want to give it a try. I paid half of the price which came down to something around 600 INR, I think. Since most of The Body Shop products work good for me, I had high hopes. So, let the dissection begin,

My experience: The product comes in a pump tube is is not only handy, but also hygienic. The pump dispenses adequate amount of product and 04 is a close shade
match, though slightly lighter. I am not much worried about that because a little bronzing or mixing it with a darker BB Cream or foundation can sort things out here. it also provides medium coverage and hides my blemishes extremely well.

I keep forgetting the expiry dates. :( The Body Shop Oil-free Balancing Foundation SPF 15 shade 04
BUT, the only issue I had with this was how it melts in contact with water. It just melts! On it's own, the oil from my  oily skin makes it go cakey and even moist hands would melt off the product and it would be everywhere!
In winter, when my skin was super-dry, I mixed it with good amount of my Isadora BB Cream and the concoction resulted in a beautiful texture which not only gave me  a good color-match, but also medium coverage which looked excellent on me.

So, the Pro and Cons.

  1. Hygienic packaging.
  2. medium coverage.
  3. Mixed with a BB cream or something, I got a good texture.
  4. It has SPF15. Something is always better than nothing. Right?

Cons:
  • Melts in contact with minutest amount of water or even moist hand.
  • On it's own, it even gets cakey on oily skin.
  • For the product it is, it is extremely pricey.

These two cons do not work well for me at all.

Verdict: No one in right-mind who wants something which can be easily washed off, can want a product which melts off like this. I am not paying 1200 INR for 30 ml. Not, even 600 INR for 30ml. The Body Shop caters plenty of other good products. I would rather spend on those.

What do you think of this foundation? have you tried it? Would you like to buy it?
