Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette Gold

My review of Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette Gold, price, swatches.

I had shown some of my most used brown eye shadow palettes on Instagram. Well, those are not the entire collection. Someday, I want to show you all the palettes in my collection. But let me begin with Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eyeshadow palette in Gold which I had shown earlier with the entire collection I received.

Lakme has the eye shadow quartets which no matter what people say, I think is of excellent quality. I myself I think still have the Desert Rose Palette lying somewhere and the quality of the products are
excellent. But, I really wanted to see something more exciting. I think Lakme is playing good with
lipsticks ( although we need matte liquid lipsticks for sure) and this time when they launched the eye shadow palettes, I got pretty excited.

I was hoping to lay my hands on the warm Gold palette and by the turn of luck, I was sent that one. I approach eye shadows carefully and I try not judging before I actually use on my eyes because as it happened with my NYX palette ( review soon) which I thought was least impressive, but turned out wonderful on the skin. So, I did not know what exactly to expect. I have also noticed that usually in a palette no matter what there would be at least one shade which can let down. So, my expectations were not too high, but I was ready to be surprised.

My Experience of Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette Gold:

There are six shades which you can obviously see. The colours are all matte. From top left, there's a bronzy-caramellish golden brown which shows up surprisingly beautifully as a lid colour, a dark cool toned brown, an orangish brown. From the bottom left is a khaki green, a deep peach and a warm skin toned brownish-beige.

Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette Gold: The colors look way pigmented in person.

The shadows are soft and does kick up powder when used with a brush; but at the same time I find them quite pigmented. The bottom right brownish-beige may not seem pigmented, but I observe it is very close to my skin colour which makes it least visible. At the same time, it makes a beautiful blending colour.

I personally love this palette because I find the colours are very pigmented and the array is perfect for everyday use. You might even wear it if you are a teacher and it wouldn't look out of the place.

I also find the palette versatile.

Here are a few things I do for example which you may find useful as a quick guide:

1. Use the top right color as my crease colour. Bottom right one underneath my browbone so that none of the other colors keep travelling upwards.Top left color as my lid color. If I need, I would use a touch of the middle deep brown on top row to deepen the crease or the outer corners.

2. I can just use the blending colour, the crease color and peach on the eye lid.

3. I can do a smokey eye with the brown ( Shall come up with the easiest smokey eye makeup soon) and blend it with the any of the top right colour or the bottom second

4 If I am too bored, I can use the khaki. Since it's not a bright green, it still  would not look on-the-face. But, it is my least used colors because for everyday use, since I wear bright lip colors, I keep my eyes low key.

I have seen some reviews claiming the palette is not pigmented enough. I wonder what they mean because in terms of colour pay off, I would compare it to Sleek Palettes ( Guilty! I have Sleek products, but never managed to review). I am not sure if these palettes are inconsistent. But given that I have never encountered inconsistent quality from Lakme, I do not think that can be the case either. I am really at a loss about those complaints.

To brew down into a gist,

What I like about the Lakme palette:

  • It is versatile.
  • Great for everyday use.
  • Good for neutral day time looks. But, can be amped up for the night time too.
  • Very pigmented.
  • Mostly matte.

What I do not like about the palette:

  • The price point. Come on! There are only six colours. Even Sleek Makeup Palettes are priced less and has more number of shadows and in greater quantity too! I am, like most of the people quite price-sensitive.
  • The shadows are powdery and can have fall outs if not tapped off before application. But then, there are lots of high end brands (can't exactly recall which ones though I remember seeing on YouTube) which kick up dust too but ace in terms of pigments.

Verdict: I wouldn't give a verdict but I would point out the fact that these days, most of the times I keep reaching out for it.

Shall I repurchase? I don't think I have to. But, in case I ever lose it in a year, I would surely get it again.
