The Body Shop Matte Clay Clarifying Foundation| Japanese Maple, Moluccan Nutmeg Swatches, price

After my skin has started recovering ( it still needs a lot of pampering, but that is paying off. Worth it, right?), I have become careful about what I use. Another thing, I have always been very particular about my foundations in terms of texture and shade match. But I really do not prefer digging a deep hole in my pocket. Hence, I have become too careful. I try keeping a tag on almost every foundation I see. So, when The Body Shop launched it the Matte Clay Clarifying Foundation, I went Ooh lala!

Price: 1195 INR for 30 ml.

It seems tailored for my skin needs. I rushed to the store, but by then, most of the shades were sold
out. I got Japanese Maple which seemed the darkest of that available lot. But on trying it in day time, it is definitely lighter than my skin tone.

Then I received the Moluccan Nutmeg which seems to be my perfect match! It has the right amount of yellow and matches my skin to the t! Right now, my tan is lightened. ( I keep changing colour as almost every three or four months I keep going to the sea side).

The Japanese Maple is also not waste. As I am lighter now, I mix it with my another HG L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation which is a bit too dark for me currently, and get my perfect shade too. I keep changing the proportion to suit the skin colour of the time.

So, the color matches I got are perfect.

Moving on the the product,

The pointed nozzle is definitely a help as it dispenses the right amount of product. The texture is thick liquid... it is liquid, but spreads very easily. It blends smoothly. I use both my fkat-top Kabuki brush and my fingers. I feel it works slightly better with fingers and nicely with moist brush.

The coverage is medium to full and with a very thin layer only hides most of my skin pigmentation, blemishes and breakouts if there are any. The finish is really matte and it is really cooling. I can feel the tea tree oil in its mild scent and the way it feels on the skin. I go with concealer only under the eyes .

With this foundation, I really do not feel the need to setting it with powder. However, I do that out of habit and extra caution. After 3 or 4 hours, my oily t zone, gets oily again ( but I use a very very thing layer, mind it). But the foundation never separates to look cakey or so. A quick dab with tissue just puts everything in place and looks fresh as ever.

With my skin, I have never experienced any irritation. I cannot comment on the 'clarifying' aspect because I do not use the foundation everyday. But what I can definitely say is that it does feel soothing and good.

All these being said, I would round off by clearly declaring me love for this foundation. I have been trying the matte clay clarifying foundation for the last two months or so and I am definitely happy with it.

Do I recommend? Yes. especially for normal to oily skin and to those looking for matte finish foundation with good amount of coverage.

Shall I repurchase? Yes. This I can confirm.

What's your current HG foundation? What would you recommend?
