On our facebook group, The Beauty Cafe, our friend Keerthi was contemplating wearing a Sangeeth pink and gold outfit and she was looking for some ideas. Since my cousin's wedding is coming soon, I am looking for makeup ideas too and I felt why not try something? The trials would also give me some amount of practice. Last night, I tried the eyes and it turned out like this
Since Keerthi liked it, I did a tute in the morning. It was a quick one so excuse if there are some mistakes. But if done carefully, it would be the same every time.
A: I always begin with priming my lids. I used my Inglot Eyeshadow base.
B: Next taking my Lakme Glide on Eyecolor, I put it on my entire lid. You can use shades like light purple to add some more color depth or use a black kajal if you are doing this at night.
C: I would be using my LA colors Palette( not reviewed yet).
Taking the lighter pink with my Faces brush, I covered the inner half of my eyes. The eyepencil lets the shadow adhere better. ( 6+7)
Next, with the same brush, I used the fuchsia and put in on the over half. I made a V at the edges. This is not difficult. I held the brush slantwise. Since my eyes are small, two angled dabs does the job and the third fills it up.If you have bigger eyes, you might need to go over.( 8+9)
D: Blend the seam between pink and fuchsia/hot pink/darker pink . Just brush very lightly, so that the color is not dislodged, yet it blends up.
E: Next, with my Vega pencil brush, I placed some dark purple eyeshadow at the corners and then whatever was left swiped it inwards on the crease. For larger eyes, you need to take up the shadows several times.
F: Next, I started blending the edges with my Vega blending brush
G: Take a wee bit of golden shadow on on your applicator brush and just dot it in the middle. Since my eyes are small, I did the dot near my lashline which should make it visible when I keep my hooded eyes open :P
H: With an angled brush ( a set I got just for 70 bucks), I placed some of the golden shadow on the inner part of the lower lashline and the darker on the outer lashline.
Highlight the browbone with the gold and blend it well for added glamour or use a nude shadow.
I: Line the waterline/lashline as you wish to and draw a thin liner. And finish this off with a generous blast of mascara.

C'est tous!

Some pointers: I'm no professional, but from my own experience what I learnt and did here was:
- Blending: Do not brush on the entire lid or the entire spot. Just at the seams ( the ridge between the two colors), gently pat the shadow with a very light hand. This would prevent the colors from falling off or dislodging or even mixing up.
- Do not 'brush on the colors', instead, pat them on to make them intense.
- For the crease, unlike others, I do not brush on the entire brush into the crease with the colors. I just brush on with bold stroke and then, just blend the edges to blend it into the browbones..
- You do not need a pencil brush for the lower lashline. Any angled brush or even lipfillers would to the same. It;s the precision that matters.
- Do not put on the second coat of mascara after the previous one dries. Instead, keep coating while the first one is wet. This would help the curl as well as lengthen and thicken.
- I deliberately used matte shades for the main eye makeup. The gold is the only shimmery color here. Since you would be photographed, if this is for a wedding, too much of shimmer would reflect light and wash it out. Using the shimmers sparingly instead for touches would add that glamour in flash as well as let your original makeup color show up.
