The Body Shop Spa of the World Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil: Radiant Body and Hair Oil

The Body Shop Spa of the World Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil for Hair and Body review, ingredients.

As most of you know, The Body Shop has recently released its Spa of the World Range. I got excited because, I like pampering myself every now and then.

When I found that they have a Polynesian Monoi Oil in the line, my first thought was, " Now, after argan and macademia, there comes another oil in the cult". I kept wondering what this was
until, I looked up wikipedia.

So, what is 'Monoi' oil?

It's basically Tiare Flower infused coconut oil which the Maoris in Tahiti use. The plant grows in a particular soil and the components of the flower infuses with special properties which makes this oil almost a miracle oil because, it not only soothes the skin, it can be used on hair and body to fortify against wind and the sun or even swimming pools!  The oil, was definitely held sacred and was particularly used in temples.

You can find more details in  wikipedia here.

My Experience of then Spa of the World Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil:

The oil comes in a dark plastic bottle. I know glass is always preferable, but, for expensive products, I prefer plastic bottles because it would not break easily. There's a screw lid and the spout of the bottle has a perforation which dispenses the oil slowly to prevent spillage. The amber colored oil smells beautiful and even though feels a bit dense at first, on rubbing between palms it spreads very easily. I would rub some on my hair and my arms and body the wonderful lingering scent relaxes like anything.

What I loved about the Monoi Oil:

On my body, the oil does brings radiance back. I use it on my arms and my skin looks so nourished and supple. In fact, it looks like the supple skin of the models in glossy magazines advertising body lotions.
I especially love using this on my hair. My hair is pretty dry with plenty of split ends ( reminds me that I should get a hair cut). The pool water is not doing any favour in particular. Again, I am tired of leave-ins because eventually, I am getting the feeling of accumulation of products. I was indeed looking for something natural, some kind of oil which would soak up easily and make my hair soft and frizz-free. This oil has done the job. It gets absorbed in my hair and controls the frizz and softens it and makes it look less dry.

It did not weigh down my hair. But yes, if you go overboard it might feel heavy. But the good part is that, eventually, everything gets absorbed. How nice is that?
Needless to say how beautiful my hair smells!

It's so expensive! This 170 ml of 5.7 oz comes for Rs 1695 or 1700 if I round up which is close to around $25 USD I think.

Do I recommend? Yes. I like it. If you have particularly dry hair, you may try this as a leave in. You may also use this as a skin oil on days you want to feel extra special.

Shall I repurchase? I am soon moving to the Philippines and I was keeping an eye on The Body Shop Philippines for this launch. Now I am relieved that they did. In short, yes, I am definitely repurchasing this oil.

Product by the brand. Honest reivew.

  1. You are moving to Philippines? Job?

Hope we will get more of Philippines product reviews <3

I haven't tried this range yet but hearing some mixed reviews regrading this range.

    1. Yes. Spa vor products like these can be hits and misses. I am particularly liking this one more perhaps because I can use it both n my hair and body. Had t been only a massage oil, perhaps my opinion would have been different.

  2. Philippines? Don't go...wait, tying the knot? :D

    1. Best wishes.. Philippines for good?
      You're gonna love it here

  3. I really want to try this range out! Looks nice. You are moving? Whoa! I guess we'll get more reviews now :)

    1. You should! I hear the place is beauty lovers' paradise. And since I should have more time to myself, the reviews should come like tsunamis!
